The Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde: An Illuminated Edition

Early in his career, Oscar Wilde produced nine original fairy tales. They've rarely been collected in one volume, and never before with the strange and ravishing images of Yuko Shimizu (THE UNWRITTEN, THE CAT MAN OF ALEPPO), one of the most celebrated illustrators in the world. As Pulitzer Prize-winner Michael Cunningham (THE HOURS) puts it in his introduction to the volume, this collaboration is "a meeting of such extraordinary talents the book itself emanates the minute traces of a pulse. "This oversized art book edition of a great and underrated classic is housed an an embossed and debossed foil-blocked slipcase, and produced using only the finest materials, including a cloth binding, acid-free paper, and the highest level of off-set printing in four colors.

Wilde's tales are lyrical, enchanted, and often heartbreaking. While still shot through with the sharp edges of his renowned wit, this early works reveals a younger, more tender-hearted author than the arch poetic intellect who became legend. The tales are magical -- enrapturing to childen, and revivifying to world-weary adults.

They are singular, unlike any other writing by Wilde, or anyone else. THE FAIRY TALES OF OSCAR WILDE is an heirloom to pass down from one generation to the next; a gift for a loved one or a gift for yourself; a remarkable addition to the library of any lover of art, language, or books. A stunning new entry in Beehive Books award-winning Illuminated Editions series, this volume is housed in a shimmering die-cut sculpturally embossed slipcase, printed on uncoated acid-free paper, and published in an oversized 9x12" trim format.
