Lastman Book 1

The Angoulême International Comics Festival Prize winning series—a new English edition! Adrian Velba has trained all year to fight in the Valley of the Kings’ legendary tournament. However, despite his ambition, he has no chance of winning. Not only is his partner unable to compete, but at 12-years-old, Adrian is the longest of longshots.

That is, until a mysterious, powerful stranger enters town and offers to join forces with Adrian. But who is Richard Aldana? And why, in a world of magic, does he rely solely on his fists? Eschewing magic and using only his martial arts prowess, Aldana’s motives are as mysterious as his origins. Featuring lush, manga-style worldbuilding and heart-pounding action sequences, Lastman is the perfect upper YA/teen graphic novel series for fans of Shonen Jump manga and beloved comics like the Eisner Award winning Do A Powerbomb by Daniel Warren Johnson, the epic, bestselling superhero series Invincible by Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley, and the battle-infused Firepower by Robert Kirkman and Chris Samnee.

Originally a hit comic book series published in French, this winner of the 42nd Annual Angoulême International Comics Festival Prize for Series is a character-driven, fast-paced adventure that readers won’t want to miss.
