Where to start with One Piece: singles, omnibuses and box sets
One Piece is a long-running pirate adventure by Eiichiro Oda, but trying it does not mean committing to the whole series. Start with one book, then choose the edition that suits how you like to read and collect.
The short answer
Start with One Piece, Vol. 1: Romance Dawn for the standard English-language paperback. Meet Luffy at the beginning and continue in volume order.
Single volume, omnibus or box set?
A single volume is a straightforward way to try the story or fill a gap in a matching collection. One Piece Omnibus Vol. 1 collects the original volumes 1–3 in one paperback. These editions start at the same point in the story; you do not need both.
A box set packages a larger group of separate books. Check the exact included volumes, current price and delivery cost before comparing it with singles or omnibuses. A numbered box set can cover part of a longer series, so it should not be assumed to contain the whole story.
Browse the One Piece books and editions and use the edition filter to choose Single Volume, Omnibus or Box Set. The page shows current availability, including titles waiting for a restock and upcoming releases. You can also browse our wider box sets and omnibuses.
Read at your own pace
Try volume one before deciding how much more to collect. You do not need to buy a long run at once. If the adventure is not for you, the beginner shelf and shonen collection offer other places to start.
