Kagurabachi: how many volumes, and when the next one is out
Kagurabachi is Takeru Hokazono's manga about Chihiro Rokuhira, son of the swordsmith Kunishige Rokuhira, who forged the Enchanted Blades that ended a great war. When a group of sorcerers called the Hishaku murder his father and steal the blades, Chihiro sets out with Enten, the seventh blade, to get the other six back and avenge him. Here's how many volumes there are, and when the next one is out in English.
The short answer
Kagurabachi has 12 volumes in Japan (as of September 2026) and is still running in Weekly Shōnen Jump. In English, VIZ has published 8. Vol. 9 is due on 3 December 2026 and Vol. 10 on 11 March 2027. Start with Vol. 1.
How many volumes are there?
- In Japan: 12 volumes as of September 2026. It began in Weekly Shōnen Jump in September 2023 and hasn't finished.
- In English: Vols. 1–8 are out from VIZ, which published the first in November 2024.
- Next in English: Vol. 9 is due on 3 December 2026 and Vol. 10 on 11 March 2027, and both are open for pre-order.
The English books are about four volumes behind Japan. New chapters are also published in English on VIZ's Shonen Jump website and Shueisha's Manga Plus.
Why everyone was talking about it
Kagurabachi's sudden popularity with readers around the world came partly from internet memes, many of them ironically naming it the heir to Weekly Shōnen Jump's "Big Three" of One Piece, Naruto and Bleach. It has done well for real since: it won the Next Manga Award in 2024, and by October 2026 it had more than 4.5 million copies in circulation.
The anime
An anime by the studio Cypic is due to start in April 2027. Until then, the manga is the only way to read it, from Vol. 1.
